John Mulaney Files for Divorce From Anna Marie Tendler

Two months after artist Anna Marie Tendler called comedian John Mulaney's choice to terminate their marriage "heartbreaking," he has taken steps to make it legal. 

John Mulaney is looking for a way out of his marriage.

On Friday, July 23, the comedian filed for divorce from Anna Marie Tendler in New York, according to court papers obtained by Us. Mulaney's lawsuit comes just over two months after she publicly stated her dissatisfaction with the separation.

She wrote in a statement at the time, "I am heartbroken that John has decided to dissolve our marriage." "As he continues his recuperation, I wish him strength and prosperity."

Mulaney's representative acknowledged the couple's split but declined to speak further, citing the actor's continuing rehabilitation from substance abuse.

Mulaney, 38, allegedly finished a 60-day rehab stint in February after seeking therapy two months earlier. He's recently returned to comedy, and he's rekindled his relationship with actress Olivia Munn. Mulaney and Tendler, 36, acknowledged their breakup three days prior to the announcement of their partnership.

"[They] have known one other for a long and always been nice," a source close to Munn explained to Us, adding, "[They] have known each other for a while and always been friendly."

"She will continue to help him in anyways she can and be there for him," the insider said, describing Munn as "extremely supportive" of Mulaney's rehabilitation path.

When asked about the rumors about her relationship status in a New Beauty interview, Munn maintained there's more to the tale.

"I think what's more startling is how much is wrong," said the Predator star. "There is a lot of focus on things that aren't true. And if you speak up and try to tell the truth, you'll be accused of being untrustworthy or just ignored. It's become second nature to me, but that doesn't make it any easier."
